Who We Are

Vinocation Ltd specialises in supplying wines not readily available in the UK, and in most cases not normally available outside France. We take a pride in personally knowing our producers, and only deal with viticulteurs who share a similar passion to us of quality, value-for-money and first-rate customer service. Our expertise comes from many years spent in France finding and getting to know the wines and their makers who are generally from families who have been making wine for generations. Far from the mass-produced wines that normally dominate the UK High Street, these wines are individualistic, hand-crafted and made by passionate viticulteurs with a flair for their profession. We work with wines from all the main grape-growing areas in France. Our objective is not to have the biggest range, but to have the best, identifying and selling those wines that represent the best quality and the best value-for-money in their appellation.

Simon

Simon spent 13 years in France, relocating from Scotland where he was an export director in the Scotch whisky business marketing premium international brands including The Famous Grouse and The Macallan. From his base near Saint Emilion, just outside Bordeaux, he built up relationships with growers all over France, and exported their wines and spirits to overseas markets, mainly China, Europe, Canada and USA. On returning recently to the UK, easy access to France was a priority, so Simon is now based on the south coast in Folkestone from where he can see France on a good day, and Calais is just 30 minutes away on Eurotunnel!
Simon’s ‘go to’ wines are Bordeaux reds, probably right bank, (where he was based ), and Champagne, Cotes des Blancs, to celebrate, commiserate or simply to enjoy whatever the occasion.

Ewan

Ewan started out on his wine adventure in 2016 at Berry Brothers & Rudd, working in the cellars beneath No 3 St James’s Street. Having confirmed his passion for wine, he moved to the Berry Bros. wholesale arm of Fields, Morris & Verdin. Starting in London sales, Ewan’s responsibility was increased to include regional and national accounts with his remit extending from London to Scotland. He also worked as a tasting manager for Berry Brothers & Rudd’s private and corporate events team.
Having been at Berry Bros. for 3 years, Ewan decided he wanted to make use of his experience and take up the challenge of an entrepreneurial role with a ‘start up’ company.
Ewan’s favourite wines are Syrah-oriented from Northern Rhône and ‘low-dosage’ Champagne as a ’special’ aperitif.
